Don Lee has grown in recent years to have a strong and well regarded Marine Science Camp. Marine Science campers participate in a variety of amazing hands-on experiences including an exploration of the Neuse River and the creatures that live in and around the river.
Campers of the Don Lee Marine Science Camp also take a trip on an
ocean research vessel to collect fish and marine invertebrates, explore
a beach habitat, visit the North Carolina Maritime Museum, and spend
the night at the NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. Campers never forget
this week of amazing encounters and exciting experiences.
Marine Science camps have developed out of the extremely popular
Environmental Education Program for schools across the state. There are
over 6000 students each year who visit Don Lee Center to participate in
the Coastal Communities environmental education program. This program
offers a variety of activities that provide opportunities for students
to learn about the world around them through practical and experiential
programs. Don Lee Center also offers a Common Ground teambuilding
program that provides opportunities for groups to work together and
build strong relationships with one another.
Here at Don Lee Center, it is important for us to seek, provide, and
nurture opportunities for our guest to work together to build strong
and positive relationships with their community and care for the
amazing environment around us.
